A Timeline,

Late 1950's

The late Jim Moore, an aeronautical draftsman by training, true passion was boat building.

 1972

Proudly brought North America's first precision cut stitch and glue canoe kit to market in 1972.

Jim's son, Don, began his apprenticeship and training as a child in his father's shop learning the craft of boat building and design taking over the operation in the late 70's.

In the early days, every design was done by hand. Back then, it took the better part of a year to do the designing, pattern making, prototyping, re-designing, building, manual writing, production and tooling to bring a boat kit to market.

Nowadays, our CAD program has sped up the task, but it still takes approximately six months to bring the boats from conception to completion.

Initially, the wood was cut by hand, then using pattern templates, the panels we shaped on homemade industrial wood shaper.

Now, we use a CNC machine to router cut each panel at a repeatable accuracy of .003 of an inch.

Our designs blend functionality with beauty and performance.
